Welcome Host Volunteer

Royal Ballet and Opera, based in Covent Garden, central London, is home to the Royal Opera, the Royal Ballet, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. A registered charity with national reach, our world-class performances and trailblazing learning and participation programmes enrich people's lives with ballet and opera.

We want every visitor to know who we are, what we do, and how they can enjoy our performances, events, tours, exhibitions, shop, café, restaurants and more! You can lead the conversation so that every visitor feels welcomed and included, no matter their background.

Schedule and commitment

• Can you volunteer two sessions per month?
• Are you looking for an opportunity to commit to for a minimum of 6 months, starting in October-November 2026?
• Sessions available from Monday to Sunday, daytime and evening. Sessions are 1.5 to 3.5 hours long.
• At this time, we strongly prefer volunteers who are available to volunteer on weekends, although we have capacity for weekday volunteers as well.
• Volunteer session times vary depending on our performance and events schedule.
• Typical session times: 11:45-15:15 (3.5 hrs); 15:00-18:00 (3 hrs); 17:45-19:45 (2 hrs) or 18:00-19:30 (1.5 hrs) or 18:30-20:00 (1.5 hrs)
• Our volunteers browse and book their sessions using our scheduling mobile app and website.

We are reviewing applications on a rolling basis. If your application demonstrates skills and motivations that suit the role, you will be invited to join a 1-hour online recruitment session to meet our team, learn more about the role and decide if it's a good fit for you.
